REWIND FEATURE: INSIDE THE REWIND COMPARISON DATABASE
This section explains in a bit more detail how the discs featured in the Rewind Comparison Database are compared. Remember, the comparisons are not reviews and Rewind has never said they were! Our database has been designed to give you a helping hand when buying DVDs from any of the DVD regions. At the end of the day, the choice is ultimately yours! In this section you will also find details of other little things you should look out for when using the database.
HOW ARE THE DISCS COMPARED?
Each DVD comparison featured includes the following information:
- Studio information (of the studio who released the DVD not who made the film)
- Case type
- Extra features
- Picture format
- Sound format
- Anamorphically enhanced or not
- If the film has been cut
When Rewind tells you a film has been cut by the British Board of Film Classification for UK release, this can sometimes determine which region people go for when buying their DVD's. Please note - although a film may be uncut by the BBFC, the film may have been pre-cut by the distributor to gain a lower certificate. Rewind can only sometimes tell you when this is the case. Censorship information is brought to you in association with Melon Farmers. For more information on censorship and DVDs, please click here.
Rewind does NOT see the following features to be of importance when coming to a verdict:
- An extra 4:3 option in one of the regions
- Extra DVD-ROM material in one of the regions. This material is normally not listed on this site
- Subtitle or language options. This material may be listed on the site but does not enter into the overall verdict
- Price - Rewind advises you check the price in all regions before purchasing
