You may want to add a note like this:
It was usual for films like this to have a primary OAR of 1.75:1 for cinema release in some territories but they were also shot "TV-safe" so boom mikes and crew, etc, wouldn't be seen when the top and bottom were opened up for 1.33:1 broadcasts. So, as with All Quiet on the Western Front (1979), both ARs are valid.

This is the only one of the four Barbara Cartland films currently in OFDb, but I'll eventually pick up the box set and add the rest.

Was this ever screened anywhere in cinemas? If not it would seem the 1.33:1 ratio would be the correct ratio.

I can't find evidence of any theatrical screenings, but that doesn't affect the fact the studio making all four Barbara Cartland films would have had a single house ratio (almost certainly 1.75:1 or 1.85:1) for films shot flat on 35mm.

Very succinct - thank you! The whole AR issue is another area of fascination and the more I learn, the more frustrating it gets. Basically, almost as many mistakes are being made as in the bad old days. Of course, I doubt any HD widescreen masters even exist for these particular films as yet...
