BELL OF HELL Dvd BOOTLEG
Title: Bell from Hell (The) AKA La Campana del infierno AKA The Bell of Hell AKA La Cloche de l'enfer AKA The Bells (1973)
Country: Spain
Regions: 1-6
Releasing Studio: None.
Case Type: Keepcase
Aspect Ratio: 1.85:1
Anamorphic?: Yes
PAL or NTSC?: PAL
Soundtracks: English Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono; Spanish Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono; German Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono
Subtitles (are they optional?): No subtitles
Cuts: Running time of 93.14. Scenes cut from Pathfinder release are all included from 47:48s - 50mins. Nudity/seduction scene intact at 1hr 1sec. Motorbike sound over final scene of fog/singing. No 'The End' title included, cuts to black. Notably does not include approx 11 seconds of studio/distributor titles at beginning as per Pathfinder release, but has same title frame 'The Bells'.
Commentaries: No.
Extras: None.
Notes: Slight black border around frame; slightly tight to edges but nothing overly cropped as with some of opening titles on Pathfinder release. Quality consistent with no VHS inserts throughout, better image than Pathfinder which appears zoomed in by comparison. If the End title was included, and the opening distributor titles added, the running time would be approx 10 or 11 seconds longer, similar to the Austrian release. Box incorrectly states 105 mins approx. All of English audio is english with no spanish sections nor subtitling.
Easter Eggs: No.
Amazon ASIN (UK, French, German, USA releases only): B07HHJ48W2
Source:* I own it.

Re: BELL OF HELL Dvd FAO David BOOTLEG
Gotta be a boot, though I've drawn a blank on the company that issued it. But I did find that the director, Claudio Guerín Hill, died just before the end of filming when he fell from the belltower.
David: Many – maybe half – of all Spanish and Italian classic film releases are boots. See the discussion in this thread.

Ok. Yes it looks it without company ID's. Pity. As the quality and screen format is better than that USA release special edition.James-Masaki_Ryan wrote:Seems like a boot.

Have we not decided about listing bootlegs? I favour listing them to ensure users are aware and can be informed yea or nea as to purchase.

Re: BELL OF HELL Dvd FAO David BOOTLEG
Juan Antonio Bardem finished the film. The film’s international rights are with Artedis in France (not sure about domestic Spanish) by way of its French co-producer Les Films de Boetie. The Spanish dvd might be a boot of the German or at least patches up the French master in the same manner.Brent_Reid wrote:Gotta be a boot, though I've drawn a blank on the company that issued it. Hill’s earlier film is thus far only out in Germany, Italy, and Spain (a legit release since Mercury owns the Spanish rights). The only English-language release was a Greek VHS.

Re: BELL OF HELL Dvd FAO David BOOTLEG
I vehemently disagree that this site (or any other) should be listing boots. The only policy change I'd like to see would be supplying a basic list of labels known to have bootlegged individual titles at the foot of their comparison page.
Cheers for the very informative post, Eric.

I've hidden the listing. Rick, remove the bootleg from the site, please.

Re: BELL OF HELL Dvd BOOTLEG
Done. Why do we not include these as a way to keep users informed? They are out there on official sites like UK and Spanish Amazon and we are missing so many official releases, how are users supposed to know what is official and missing and what is a boot and missing?

You could then argue "Why not add this one, to inform users that it is fake?"Rick_Curzon wrote:Done. Why do we not include these as a way to keep users informed? Re: BELL OF HELL Dvd BOOTLEG
I would limit it to stuff available on Amazon which has a proper listing. Spanish discs especially because they look so professional and seem to be sold on all Amazons.

Re: BELL OF HELL Dvd BOOTLEG
I've posted elsewhere, but we should refrain from posting fakes unless we implement some system for them, or at the very least just mentioning in the notes that [___] is a bootleg release.

Re: BELL OF HELL Dvd BOOTLEG
There is currently a hard stance policy in place that we do not knowingly add bootlegs to the database.
Any bootlegs discovered to already be in the database will be removed/hidden from view, as status is determined.
Due to time constraints of our editors, we cannot process bulk reports, so any report of a bootleg needs to be specific, unless an editor has accepted to do the work of checking.
Releases currently listed that are questionable, but deemed "of value to list", might still be view-able, but may in future require the user to click a checkbox.
Specifics undecided.
