You're welcome. I see you still haven't corrected the Chaplin's Goliath runtime (52:15) in the US BD and DVD sets - after all, you did ask me for it! I see "The Birth of the Tramp" is also wrong in the US Mutual BD set. Can we get the rest of the timings for that set too?

I updated "Chaplin's Goliath" runtime on the Mutual 90th DVD set. Is the runtime the same on the Blu-ray? If so could you give us the runtime for the "The Birth of The Tramp" documentary too?

Yeah, I don't blame you for losing track. I often have a job keeping up and I'm only working on a few subjects at a time. However, we're now going over these for the fourth time in a four-page thread!

There's only ever been one edit of "Goliath": 52:15. If it is different on the BD it will only be by a second or so, because of the mastering. 52:15 is certainly more accurate than the "55 min" currently listed. Same goes for "The Birth of The Tramp": 60:19 as opposed to the listed "63 min". If you prefer not to correct them, how about at least deleting the wrong times?

And... I still don't own "The Gentleman Tramp" DVD but will still submit it when I have it.

I'll eventually be able to supply the runtimes for the Flicker Alley Mutuals BD and the 2014 Italian Essanay DVD set, but it'll take a little while as they're in Italy.

The BFI set does not credit the music for "Charlie Butts In" but I assume you compared and confirmed it was the Robert Israel score. Updated.
"Burlesque on Carmen", BFI lists 1951 was the year with the liner notes explaining and referencing the date. Will leave it as that unless some updated info has been confirmed.

Nice work. I have indeed compared all the scores very carefully - been surrounded by a stack of Chaplin discs all week! "Charlie Butts In" uses a seamlessly edited version of Robert Israel's "A Night Out" score. In fact, all 8 Robert Israel scores are recycled: they were originally recorded for Image's 1999 DVDs, much like the Mutuals have twice reused the 2003 Carl Davis scores.

I've been expanding my Chaplin Guides hugely too: there are now eight core articles, up from the original three - with lots more to come! Every one of them links here and is designed to complement this site's listings. Except for Part 1, most of the info has been moved around and the old Part 2 and 3 links now point to different parts of his catalogue. Therefore, it's best if you simply link to the first part from now on.

By the way, the "Triple Trouble" and "Charlie Butts In" scores are still missing fom the US Flicker Alley BD and DVD listings.

Just realised I didn't answer your "Burlesque on Carmen" comment. The booklet states 1951, but the onscreen restoration credits say the new version was submitted to the BBFC for classification in 1952 and that Sellers' narration was probably recorded in 1951. However, I've found it was actually submitted to the BBFC for classification on 27.4.1951, so like the Flicker Alley timings, it's just another typo. Considering this was such a huge, complex project, involving 11 archives, I'm surprised there aren't more!

I'm giving this thread a bump, as there are a lot of long-outstanding corrections for the French and German Essanay and Mutual DVDs, which I now own. These relate to missing and misattributed content, and missing timings. If I give blow-by-blow instructions it'll get really complicated, so I've edited my previous post to make updating the comparisons as quick and simple as possible; hopefully you can just copy and paste the relevant info.

Are the French and German subtitles optional?

Yes: on inserting the disc, you're given the option to proceed in English, French or German. After that, they can be swapped on the fly.

You mean submitted in the usual way? They really are the exact same discs as the German Mutuals - even the label art is the same! The only difference between both complete sets of films is on the sleeves of the initial, individual releases of the German Mutuals (Vols 4-6): for some reason they were distributed by Icestorm. All other releases (French Vols 1-6 and box set, and German Vols 1-3 and box set) were distributed by Arte Video. I've made all this clear here.
