The Comic Strip Presents - TV Series

UK DVD

corrections and additions

---
Note: The box set I own is on the Channel 4 label, but as far as I can tell, it is identical to the one listed as VCI. Blu-ray.com has entries for both (as 4dvd and VCI), with the same release date of 6th August 2007. I was initially surprised that VCI was one of the labels for this, but apparently it is, or was, a British label "Video Collection International", and completely different to the American label 'VCI Entertainment' (where VCI is short for "Video Communications, Inc.").

---
1. Some of the episode runtimes on my set are slightly different to what is currently listed. Most of the differences are just 1 or 2 seconds, which I have not included here (although I can provide them if requested), but a few differences are larger, which I have listed here:

- "More Bad News" (50:58)
- "Gregory: Diary of a Nutcase" (38:36)
- "Four Men in a Plane" (33:09)

2. The "Notes" section of the UK release is currently only present on the page for Series 1, and is missing from the pages for Series 2 and 3.
It also needs updating on all 3 pages as follows:

Nine-disc 5-tray digi-pack (4 trays each hold 2 discs, overlapped) in cardboard slipcase.
All episodes are 4:3 Non-Anamorphic except #14 "The Supergrass" (1.44:1 Non-Anamorphic), #38 "Four Men in a Car" (1.66:1 Anamorphic), #39 "Four Men in a Plane" (1.84:1 Anamorphic).

(Notes on the above:
1. For the box set I own, the outer case mentions aspect ratios of 4:3, 14:9 and 16:9, although it doesn't state which episodes are what. However, as far as I can tell, no episodes are actually 14:9 (1.56:1). "The Supergrass" and "Four Men in a Car" are closest, at 1.44:1 and 1.66:1 respectively.)
2. The aspect ratios for #14, #38 and #39 were measured by me on my TV screen as accurately as I could. #39 has slight black bars top and bottom, but also on the left hand side, hence the unusual AR of 1.84:1.)

An eBay search of editions with back cover scans reveals nearly identical-looking complete UK box sets, one copyrighted 2005 to 2 Entertain Video and one copyrighted 2007 to Channel 4.

2 Entertain was a merger between BBC and VCI. Channel 4 then ended their relationship with VCI and started self-distributing. I will change VCI to 2005. One or both may have the same UPC: 6867441014195

The "Notes" section for Series 1 still needs updating. It is fine on Series 2 and 3.
