The Show

The first time I saw Carmen Electra was back in the early 1990's on "Beavis and Butt-head" (1993-1997) during one of the video segments they were watching. At the time, she was a recording artist. The song she was doing was called "Everybody Get On Up" which was off her first and only album (self-titled). I liked the song and eventually got the album. I'll probably be shot by my closest friends once they read this, but I actually liked the album. Electra would eventually show up in other things later on down the road. I remember her being in MTV's "Singled Out" (1995-1997) where she replaced Jenny McCarthy as co-host. Like McCarthy she also posed nude for Playboy magazine enough times. I also owned a Troma Team DVD called "Chosen One: The Legend of the Raven" (1988). I actually only bought this movie, because I wanted all the Troma films I could get my hands on at the time. The story, though, was actually good, and I thought her acting was quite good. Then I saw her in the opening scene in "Scary Movie" (2000) which got the whole theater cracking up when I saw it opening weekend. Then there was that marriage thing with Dennis Rodman . . . I think it's safe to say that Electra has certainly made a name for herself. Now she has her own line of exercise videos called "Carmen Electra's Aerobic Striptease" in which she conducts these sessions in the form of exotic dancing.
"Carmen Electra's Aerobic Striptease: Vegas Strip" is a 30:12 aerobic workout in which you see Carmen Electra in front conducting with backup dancer Allie Cohen (right side of the screen) and fitness choreographer Jennifer Galardi (left side of the screen). It is basically intended for the purposes of exercising only. Just because you see "Striptease" on the cover, it does NOT mean just that. So if you're looking for nudity, you're NOT going to find any here. If you're planning on using this for the purpose of exercise, there are health-related warnings before the Main Menu loads up.
The one and only thing I liked about the video was that it IS in fact a workout video. Personally, I'm not into aerobics videos (I hated doing aerobics in gym class back in high school). It should show people that Electra has more going for her than just taking her clothes off. If you're into aerobics and exercise, then you may like watching this and working out to it. If you like Carmen Electra but not the exercise, you'd be better off watching a movie or TV series she might have done. This DVD will probably bore you : big time. The downsides were the quality of the disc itself. The video looked like it was VHS quality. I thought the interview segments looked worse. Also the music was very repetitive. But I'll give credit where credit's due. The choreography was good for what it was worth. The three ladies were step for step during the workout.

Video

This workout is presented in full screen format (1.33:1). The quality of the main workout itself is like VHS. The three interviews in the 'Bonus Interviews' segment looked a little worse than the main workout itself. There are segments from other workouts inter-cut into the interviews, and it looks better than the actual interview footage. Okay, I know aerobic videos are probably not known best for their picture quality, but I would have expected better from Paramount Pictures.

Audio

The workout features an English Dolby Digital 2.0 mono soundtrack. There are no noticeable flaws to be heard here. Though the techno music is repetitive, you can hear every beat and every note with perfect clarity. There are no subtitles available on any part of this DVD. There are no commentary tracks present.

Extras

This DVD includes an introduction and three interviews. Below is a closer look at these supplements.

There is a 27 second introduction by Carmen Electra. She is accompanied by her two dance partners, but Carmen does all the talking.

There are three interview segments which include:

- "Interview #1" is 4 minutes 6 seconds and features back-up dancer Allie Cohen. She gives praises Electra a lot and tells how she feels about the video.

- "Interview #2" is 4 minutes 18 seconds and features fitness choreographer and consultant Jennifer Galardi. She gives some background about herself here.

- "Interview #3" is 5 minutes and features writer Leslie Wolff who talks about some of her writing credits. She also talks about how she was able to design the workouts, as well as being a guinea pig for them.
