There's one mastering error on the "Disc 1" (Original Italian version): The movie starts with the young couple on the beach getting killed by Anthropophagous, but then AFTER that, the opening credits start to roll, and we see the couple walking through the village down to the beach (though they have been killed only second before). -

OVERALL: Draw
Between the R1 2-disc SE, R2 Italian 2-Disc set by "Beat Records" and the R2 Austrian release.
R1 SE and R2 Italian -releases have both English and Italian audio (original score) with English subtitles, and some good extra features (English friendly). Note, that R1 is 1.78:1, while the Italian -release is 1.66:1 (this was probably shown in both ways).
The R2 Austrian release includes a slightly longer cut of the film (compared to the Italian-release at least) and audio commentary (probably not English friendly) with some additional minor extras, but it does not include the Italian audio track for the film.
A comparison between the cut and uncut versions can be found at Movie Censorship but note that it includes some explicit material.
This film is also known as:
- Antropofago
- Gomia, Terror En El Mar Egeo
- Man Beast
- The Savage Island -
CUTS:
- R0 America- Liberty International Entertainment - Yes - This version is heavily cut. The original running time is 90 mins. (NTSC) and is rated X. This dvd has the R-rated US version, which only runs 81 mins. (NTSC).
- R0 SE Germany- Astro - Uncut (Italian version) 86 mins (PAL). Some sources have said, that this might still missing some material (might be some dialog-scenes).
- R0 United Kingdom- Hollywood DVD - Yes (81:54). Various edits to violence and gore, as per the R0 US release.
- R1 SE America- Media Blasters/Shriek Show - Uncut (Italian version) 91:20 mins (NTSC).
- R2 Austria- NSM Records - No Cuts - "Uncut" 87.32 mins (PAL). Approx. 12 seconds longer than the Italian 'Beat Records' DVD (Slightly extended scenes only).
- R2 Germany- Laser Paradise - Uncut (Italian version) 86 mins (PAL).
- R2 LE Germany- Relax Publishing - Includes 3 versions of the film: Original (Italian version), cut (US version) and short (Super-8) version.
- R2 Italy- Beat Records - Uncut (Italian version) 87:17 mins (PAL).
- R2 Japan- SPO/New Line - Uncut (Italian version).
